Austria-Östl. Dead Mountains - High Angern

VHO Research Week High Angern 2007
The results of the Research Week 2006 was the period of 18 - 25 August 2007 again a VHO researchers camp in higher Angern dead in the eastern mountains performed. The base camp was again north of the Gruber-Koppen built at an altitude of 1,920 meters. total of seven caves are processed.
Participants: Heidi Andre (Munich), Ernest Geyer (Altenmarkt bei St. Gallen), Sebastian Kogler (Bad Mitterndorf), Franz Schmidt (Weissbach at Liezen) and Robert Seebacher (Bad Mitterndorf).

results:
three already known caves were first edited:
Superdoline (1634/51, 129 m, -33 m). The cave was bewettert strong and has a 20 m deep shaft sequel, due to lack of rope could not be driven. Portions of the horizontal canal are covered with ice.
Hochanger Tray 2 (1634/57, 129 m, -33 m) . This shaft is more or less a major breakdown in a prominent geological fault line. About a 15 deep descents, one reaches a eiserfüllten room. One possible response is continued zugeeist.
Hochanger Bay 3 (1634/58). The shaft has a connection with Hochanger Tray 2
Three caves were surveying continue:
Torkoppeneishöhle (1634/100, 811 m, -105 m). At the end of was known parts climbed a 30 m high pressure-ridge. The cave is located along the gap direction is continuing, and later divided into several very narrow or unschliefbare transitional passages. This cave bewettert parts are strong. The ice cream stand in comparison to other ice caves, where in recent years an increased melting noticeable increase slightly. (Observation period 2000/2007)
GRUB bay-109 (1634/109, 1793 m, -274 m ). This object is the largest and deepest cave in the high green field. Based on the 2006 discovered extensive horizontal parts, it was a rope down another, very large steep transition to achieve. Unfortunately, it ends up to 8 m wide and 10 m high gear after about 100 m of a sediment cap. Noteworthy for those parts of the cave are powerful ground-and Wandversinterungen. The main continuation in this area of the cave forms a strong bewettertes bay and canyon system, which was to sail in 274 m depth. This transition system is a promising starting point for further deep thrusts.
echo bay (1634/113, 395 m, -246 m). The Schneepfropfen -65 in depth was time melted away, leaving the small continuation could be driven to the Echo divide. The subsequent steps lead shaft to a depth of -246 m depth and end unschliefbar there. In the middle there is a sequel. Bats live in the shaft, at about -120 m depth, a field mouse mummy was found.
A cave was discovered and incorporated into the Austrian cave register:
night slot (1634/142, 124 m, -99 m). The well is located near the GRUB shaft 109 and on the penultimate day, the research discovered weeks. The shaft is made in several continuing up to 30 m deep pit stops in the depth and ends unschliefbar. At the bottom of the second stage shaft larger pieces of bone were found. Overall, this research
weeks 1,292 m could be measured uncharted territory. between the GRUB shaft 109 and the Echo shaft was down an outside measurement. The location of the treated cavities was measured using GPS.

Summary / Outlook: Mainly
were handled folding back the larger caves in the area where interesting new discoveries could be made. The Torkoppeneishöhle is already very close to the hope shaft horizontal approximately 24 m and 46 m vertical distance separating the two cavities. Furthermore, there is the echo bay very close to the GRUB-bay-109. A combination of these two caves were the research in the deep parts of the GRUB simplify shaft wesendlich-109. A compound of the GRUB-shaft 109 with the Torkoppenschacht (1634/122), the Torkoppen Ice Cave (1634/100) and the hope shaft (1634/115) is still very likely and would result in a cave system about 4 km long with a level difference of over 300 meters. The new coverages show that the area still has considerable potential cave. (Robert Seebacher, 9.2007)

Austria - Tennengebirge - Sandkar

short report Sandkarforschungen 2007
From 5 until 18.08.2007 again found the annual Sandkarforschungen instead of country club for caving, Salzburg. It participated 14 club members ( Martin Franz, Christian Unspoilt, Georg Schwarzenberger, Othmar Neuhauser, Toni Bamberger, Michael Revers, Heinrich Behind Mayer, Udo Falk Stetter, Karin Schwarzenberg, Philipp Zeilinger, Sabine and Tami Bittner, Gerhard Zehentner and Peter Pointer) . The expedition was very successful, the most important news in brief:

cave-Thor (1511/153) : the descent in the northern gulf bay was achieved in 783 m depth of the Black Sea. This is a 10 x 15 m large lake, the deep rubble base of 90 m and 30 x 15 m wide end manhole covers. Together with the highest point of the gate to the cave grows total depth + - 804 m. The total length is 8504m . The north shaft gap is measured from the shaft entry to the absolute lowest point (oblique shaft bottom) 410 m deep . An escape into a parallel shaft allows the upper 140 m not to spend in direct bay. The total height of the hopper is, including the 25m chimney even 435 m - is 10th in the world ranking! (See www.caverbob.com pit / ) .

-Offenbarungseishöhle (1511/666): resulted in a 2-day tour in the southern part of the discovery of the water spirits hall and a 60 meter deep shaft. increase in length 350 m, total length 10552m.

-Gamskar Ice Cave (1511/709): on a tour following the Sandkar expedition was the steep ravine to a depth of 507 m be traveled. After a muddy-shaft 130m followed disgusting Canyon (in the slimy mud you have to squeeze really purely for the purpose of crash avoidance), we reached an altitude of 1210 m in the canyon cut by ancient canyon ridge with tremendous speed out of air. Further research was postponed until later. The cave 9097 m.

- DG 5 (1511/867): the cave was 2 years ago on the hill south of the discovered Sommereck cutting and this year to explore in 109 m depth. Extremely heavy air that is drawn, suggesting more sequels. The current endpoint is 2 loamy canyon on the border of Obstruction. The cave is located on the western Gamskar parts of the Ice Cave.

- Ottakringer Ice Cave (1511/542): was the Eisabbau in a cave about 100 m deep shaft like, made the walls entirely of layered ice. Airflow is from a window at 35 m depth, which could be and where erpendelt be achieved only with expensive drilling in the ceiling of another shaft, the probable continuation can. Increase in length almost 200 m, 386 m total length, total depth of 117m .

- Steinwindeishöhle (1511/886) : Cave with a strong breeze, the input first had to be excavated. The cave is 75 m deep and has a small Eisteil. The entrance opens in the same wall as the belt cave pools (1511/260). total length 123m.

Furthermore, could some other means caves are measured. The prospect of sequels are here, however small. (by Peter Pointer, 9.2007)

Batman Arkham Asylum Changing Language

Germany - Stone sea - Head head

summary report on the week-long research in 2007 on the head:
the year by the VHM and the Cave Research Division head organized research week at the fiber head was this year from 07/28 to 08/05/2007 instead. The increasing number of participants for years reached this year with 16 participants a new record. took
Besides expedition leader Rainer Bornschlegl and the core team in recent years, Toni Mueller, Elisabeth Zahner and Dirk Peinelt more VHM error (Klaus shaking, Matthias Hoffmann), guano (Mirjam stalks, Steffen van Recum, Frank Schlöffel) , Troglobionten (Mark Kreußer) and individuals (Alex Bengel, Frank Werner, Sonja, Manuel, Wolfgang, Heinz) in part exchange.

Compared with previous years, the yield was new territory with over 1 km of explored and measured new Passages much higher.
-the snow blower (1331/657) was again the focus of our attention here could 398m new ground be recorded, bringing the total length of the snow blower at 2148m increased ; the Greater-quality programs tend, as in previous years continue in NW direction, towards the Funtenseetauern and open in the coming years, the most interesting approaches. Other hand, was not the hoped-for connection of the nearby caves Bridge tube and round shaft.

Another cave, the High Canyon (1331/656) has also edited and could be extended to 111m, so that the new total length is 227m, depth - 90m .
The newly discovered white-stone bay (1331/739) was fully understood and measured, and concludes with a length of 209m , at a depth of-70m.
The processing of some small caves, known remeasured in caves and surface works rounded out the very interesting research week from (Frank Schlöffel, 9.2007).

Austria - High Göll - High Charter

The "Göll 2007 caving expedition. The caving expedition
in the High Goell Massif (Salzburg Limestone Alps, Austria), organized by the WKTJ caving club , has reached its end pretty successfuly on 28. July. Our group naturally continued works carried on by the previous seventeen Polish annual expeditions in Goell in Hochschartenhoehlensystem, which is composed of three caves - Unvollendeterschacht (1336/302), Hoehle der Sprechende Steine (1336/153) and Kammerschartenhoehle (1336/217).

Despite somewhat unstable weather that decided to surprise us with a 20-cm snowfall, the
primary goal of the expedition was achieved. As we had planned before, we have done
two bivouacs in the system. Our research, conducted from the ,,Kathedrale'' room
around 450 meters below the surface, resulted in finding overall 1.4 km of new
passages.

The last-year problems that we left in the eastern corridors were found to
be dead ends. We also did not have luck in searching for a continuation of wide
horizontal passages in the western direction, though we have discovered around 300
meters of connections that merged unexpectedly with two different, already known
parts of the cave. Fortunately, the most promising water led us to a gigantic
fissure-type formation at minus 770 - however our time in the system was over
and further research of this problem, as well a few other major "question marks",
was postponed until next year.

Meanwhile, in the Hochscharte pass sorroundings, we have found two new entrances
(1336/348 and 1336/349).
Despite a promising beginning, both ended with a carpet
of very thick and very old ice, at minus 100 and minus 75 meters respectively.
At the end of expedition, the ,,Schluckerschacht'' (1336/310) cave was also
visited for a few times. Favourable snow conditions allowed to descend to
a level of around 240 meters under the surface, which is 90 meters below
what was known formerly. If the weather permits, we are planning a short
reconnaisance in this cave that perhaps will explain more...

The event lasted for four weeks. Totally, 14 cavers from Poland took part
in the expedition, Of which 12 were staying permanently at the upper camp -
and the remaining two helped us just for a while ...

Germany - Reiteralm

New giant cave at Reiteralm (Bayerische Alpen)
After the fall of 2005 was the combination of Eisrohrhöhle and Bammelschacht could the Eisrohrhöhle-Bammelschacht system (1337/118) in the current season on about 5 km a total length be explored and thus represents the first giant cave in the plateau of the Reiteralm dar. With 5804 m at a depth of 496 m , the cave system now ranks among the 10 longest and deepest caves in Germany.
The recent increase in length was mainly in the southern continuation of the "giant cave levels" (1650 to 1700 m above sea level) recorded in the large-scale warehouses, and could be found for alpine conditions remarkable sinter deposits. In addition to the exploration of new territory currently supported by VdHK cave climate project is the focus of the research record, for the present 6 autonomous data logger temperature and wind direction data.
